A Good Waiter: Tips

A Good Waiter: Tips

The good waiter. In a restaurant with a large menu, there are many different jobs that need to be done.

From serving tables and cooking food to cleaning up after everyone in the kitchen has gone home for day shifts or if you manage it yourself!
This is definitely not something anyone should take lightly, because each person's contribution makes this all happen smoothly every evening, which keeps customers coming back again and again.

One of these jobs is waiting tables and being able to do it well will help you work as an attentive server. As the head chef prepares food for delivery or to cook it fresh on site every day - restaurant managers rely heavily on their waiters because if something goes wrong after customers have already ordered then things can get chaotic quickly!

A good waiter has excellent table manners and is always willing to assist customers.

They must also do it without being asked, just as an "excellent" person (whatever that means) would behave when given the opportunity!
The best waiters are friendly to all his guests - even if you never see each other about anything else in your life together he will make sure that not a moment is wasted from the beginning to the end of the meal.

A good waiter takes orders very quickly, never makes excuses for his mistakes (even if it means being whipped), knows by heart how much everything costs without having to look at the menu first; all while making those around him feel at ease as he patiently waits for each person's order.

Good waiter: tasks

A good waiter will make sure to greet customers with a smile and take their order promptly.

The best waiters are happy and always willing to help. When you walk into your local restaurant, the first thing that should come across as sincere is the effort they make for their customers, greeting them with a smile and promptly taking note of the order to be filled or answered right away!
A great waiter doesn't just show up, they're eager to do business, so when someone walks through the door you can be sure that their needs or wants won't go unnoticed! Being friendly is one thing, but waiting on people hand and foot while making them feel important - this might seem like an impossible task.

It is important to be friendly when interacting with customers. A good waiter will greet them politely and ask if they need help or advice before starting their meal, as well as give feedback on what others at other tables are ordering in order to ensure that all customers have an enjoyable dining experience.

A good waiter absolutely must do:

  1. Take care of your appearance and clothing. Cleanliness and order are the basis of a good presentation for a good waiter. Never show up with your jacket or uniform creased or stained
Pay attention to your posture and attitude. Never keep your hands in your pockets!
  2. Welcome customers in a courteous and hospitable way.
Do not discriminate, all customers are the same in terms of social class or notoriety and deserve the same treatment.
Pay attention to regular customers. It is important to note down or even just memorize the tastes, allergies or special requests of loyal customers.
  3. Keep your memory trained. It is very useful to memorize the layout and number of tables, know the menu proposals perfectly and remember some orders to make service faster
  4. Always carry the essential accessories with you: service napkin, lighter or match, bottle opener, order book.
  5. Take the order at the table after waiting the right amount of time.It is important to make sure that guests decide calmly; generally "comes into action" when the customer has placed the menu on the table and looks around
  6. Uncork the bottle of wine at the table. Before pouring it into the glasses, the waiter must submit a tasting to the most authoritative diner and proceed only after his positive opinion. When pouring it, always start from the right and serve the ladies first. Never fill the glasses too much, approximately 2/3 full
  7. Serve dishes as appropriate. We always start with the ladies, hand the plate from the right and collect it from the left, holding the plate low and never at the level of the customer's face
Clear the table and clean the table before serving the dessert. However, remember that napkins must be removed after coffee
  8. Bring the account only when is requested and leave immediately after without waiting for payment
  9. Never make empty trips from the kitchen to the living room or vice versa. Make sure you always have something in hand and don't give the impression that you have nothing to do
  10. Remain present in the room, supervise the tables and customers, so as to be able to intervene with every request or need.
